Halikko’s volunteer fire department is a registered society, which performs firefighting and rescue activities according the contract with the public areal rescue organization. The rescue missions are located mainly in the geographical area of the old Halikko commune, but also a longer distance missions are possible, when needed. In addition, our society is maintaining the history and the tradition, also noting the Angelniemi department, which was merged to the society at 1977. Society also educates the young people (from age 10 to 18), to get more new skilled firefighters and to graduate citizens with awareness about fire safety. Society performs also supportive functions, recreational activities and fundraising, to ensure the successful execution of the targets set towards the society and to develop the activities further.
The members participating to the society activities to are not getting paid, but all activity is based on volunteering and to a good will to help. Society is funded mainly according the payment agreed in the contract with public areal rescue organization. The areal rescue organization sets the premises and the vehicles with needed equipments to be used by society.
There exist actual members and supporting members for the society. Both have a fee, which is decided yearly. The members are being justified to have a vote in the society meetings and members are engaged to the rules of the society.
